When you sign our letter about the proposed mine at Sheep Creek, you give us your name, email address, physical address, and phone number. This page explains, in plain terms, what we do with that information and what we don't.
If your signature appears anywhere public — on this website, in the letter we submit, or in materials we share — we show your first name and the first initial of your last name, and nothing else. We will not publicly display any of your contact information. Your address, phone number, and email are never shown publicly and are never included in the letter itself.
On rare occasions we may show a signer's details privately to an official or journalist to verify that our signatures are real and local. We never do this publicly, and never for any other reason.
We ask for your address to confirm that the people signing our letter actually live in the West Fork. A letter carries more weight when its signers are verified, affected residents rather than anonymous names from anywhere. Your email and phone let us reach you with updates if — and only if — you ask us to.
Signing the letter and hearing from us are two separate things. By checking the updates box when you sign, you are opting in to receive email and text updates from us about the mine and the alliance's work. If you don't check it, you'll hear nothing from us beyond your signature being counted.
You can always easily unsubscribe. Every email includes a one-click way to opt out, and you can reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them. We honor those requests. Standard message and data rates may apply to texts, depending on your phone plan.
We may update this letter from time to time. At any time, if you wish to remove your name from the list of signers, please email us at info@westforkneighborsalliance.org.
We do not sell your information, trade it, or hand it to anyone for their own use. We are a volunteer neighborhood group, not a business, and your details are used only for the purposes described above.
Like most websites, we rely on a couple of outside services to function. Our site is hosted by Netlify, which receives form submissions on our behalf. If you opt in to updates, your contact information is stored with the email and texting services we use to send them. These companies process the information only to provide their service to us, under their own privacy terms.
Questions about any of this, or a request about your information, can go to info@westforkneighborsalliance.org. We're neighbors; we'll answer.
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Nothing here is meant as legal advice — it's a plain description of how our volunteer group actually operates.
